Ya. 2016 was weird, but it sure is ending on a high note!

Merry Christmas! As the year draws to a close, I have to take a moment to look back and express the gratitude I have for how blessed I am because of the people in my life. When I started this blog in early summer, I had the goal of pre-selling 175 mugs. That was my break even point. That would pay for the kiln and some of the electrical work necessary to get me off the ground. It didn't quite cover the wheel, glaze, clay, tools, shipping materials, thank you cards, and all of the other things that I've come up with in the mean time, but it would most certainly get me more than on my way. I sit here on Christmas day with 325 mugs ordered. Of those, 224 have been successfully made and delivered, and the rest are made and just need to make it to their final homes!

I have had so much fun learning how to set up a home studio, how to fire my kiln, and (my favorite part) experimenting with glazes. It's funny how the ones I thought no one would ever pick out seem to be the first ones to go, and the ones that I think are so fascinating will sit around as customer after customer passes them over. Watching what people choose is such a joy! I suppose with that, and no further ado, here are some of the glazes that have successfully made an appearance in the last few months:
There were, of course, many more, but as usual I forgot to photograph before they walked out the front door. There will be many more firings however. Oh! Also, here is a picture of my beautiful, wonderful, shiny kiln that I would not be able to even dream of if it weren't for each and every one of you! If you wondered where your $ went, it's here:

In any case, thank you. Without you, I wouldn't be doing what I love each and every day. A huge shout out to my parents who have helped me through the financial details, my sister who helps field some of my orders, my boyfriend who interns, my accountant who will have to deal with me in a few months, and my supporters :) you all mean the world to me. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year! My gift to you, if you've read this far, is a sneak peak at the next mug: bears and layered glazes.
